Factions Mystic Season 4: QOL updates everywhere

    As we look back onto the previous season on Factions, we'd like to thank everyone for both the cheering and criticism that we received in heavy amounts in the previous season. Several major events occurred in the last season that has shaped us to what we are now (Dedicated server swap, twitter drama, and more). While we can't undo the past mistakes we have done, we will do everything to ensure they don't happen again. With that statement out of the way, let's move onto what this post is about.

    For the fourth season of Factions Mystic, we've decided to take some changes on how we handle things. Focusing most of our effort on content updates for SOTW and doing an update focused on performance half-way through the map just when the server needs it most. For this map, we've decided to work on a huge chunk of quality of life issues that were effecting everyone for the past few seasons and add an old loved feature that went missing when we first launched Factions Inferno back in December. That of course being emeralds dropping from villagers and diamonds from magma slimes. These will not be replacing the current IG economy but instead complement them, making the spawner packages more worthwhile from the store while also promoting usage of different spawners. We will be tweaking their loot-tables during the first few weeks to ensure this remains the case.

    In regards to QOL improvements, we have a ton of them that people have been waiting for from iron-golem loot fixes, mcMMO tweaks, and more. Instead of describing each individual feature, for the sake of everyone's time. Here's a non-exhaustive list on what we've done in the past 7 weeks,
    • Completely rebalanced Axes from mcMMO to reduce their dominance in PVP. We want it to complement custom enchantments, not overpower them.
      • Peak armor damage went down from 20% to 1%
      • Reduced frequency of armor damage attacks from 25% to 17.5%
      • Increased level requirements for peak armor damage by 400%
      • Reduced critical hit chances from 37.5% to 27.5%
      • Reduced critical hit multiplier from 1.5x to 1.4x
      • Reduced greater impact chances from 25% to 17.5%
      • Increased level requirement to max out axes skill by 4x.
    • Nerfed mcMMO rewards from voting crates slightly (Goal of 20% nerf)
      • Reward for 30 mcMMO credits reduced to 25
      • Reward for 20 mcMMO credits reduced to 17
    • Reconfigured spawner egg page in the misc. section in the shop for the OCD people in our audience.
    • Added automatic fixes of the shop to ensure the items respawn correctly after 30 minutes.
      • We're aware this doesn't permanently resolve the problem of items disappearing. But the plugin is a crucial part of the server and replacing it has proven tricky. We decided to push out the perm fix for this to next season.
    • Added a cooldown of /rtp of 60 seconds. (so people can't spam /rtp and /near to find bases)
    • Added /f vault to the blacklisted commands in PVP.
    • Updated holograms plugin to help prevent holograms disappearing randomly.
    • Minor tweaks to the economy to patch several FTOP bugs.
      • Hoppers costed $10,000 but before this season FTOP only added $5,000 to the value.
      • Before this season, golden apples costed $1,000 but actually added $5,000 to the FTOP value.
      • Beacons now only cost $50,000 and actually give $50,000 in value now. (Before they costed $100k and only gave you $25k in value)
      • Fixed droppers giving $1,000 in FTOP value while only costing $30 to purchase. (FTOP value went down)
      • Fixed dispensers giving $1,000 in FTOP value while only costing $150 to purchase. (FTOP value went down)
    • Readded automatic removal of factions data
      • It was removed last season due to it crashing the server regularly. Fortunately this has been resolved with the usage of over 200+ IPs to contact Mojang's API server. Raising the ratelimits well past what our server needs while we work on a complete caching solution for the whole network.
    • Fixed loot related issues with iron golems and mooshrooms
    • Mooshrooms now properly stack, saving CPU cycles and people's frame rate.
    • Fixed rage enchantment to prevent it causing instant death to a stack of mobs.
    • Addition of custom loot tables for Villagers and Magma Cubes (Expect these to be tweaked a lot, any further changes will be done in the factions channel in discord.)
      • Villagers drop 1-3 emeralds per mob and are effected by looting
      • Magma slimes drop 1-3 diamonds per mob and are effected by looting
    • Substantially improved the anti cheat once again
      • We focused on kill aura, flying exploits, and of course vclipping exploits.
    • Actually add /onetime to receive items.
      • We are aware this was promised last season, but we had to focus on other major issues that were haunting the server. Such as vclipping exploits and performance.
    • Another attempt at fixing brewing stands breaking sand
      • We have added a rule that using brewing stands to make unraidable bases will result in the clearing of every brewing stand in your base. But from our testing, brewing stands do indeed stack sand now correctly so this rule shouldn't be required.
    • Added an advanced chat filter to deal with advertisers and their stupid bots.

    Like we said earlier, we plan a mid season performance patch to resolve the major issues that plagued us last season. An entire rework of hoppers and TNT, both of those representing over 90% of the performance related problems last season. While I won't be saying much, they will be substantially improved (we are seeing over 50+% performance improvements in testing, ensuring 20TPS 24/7 even during the worst that last season had to throw at us). We will continue testing and update everyone on when this performance patch is ready for production.

    Even though we are now into school season, we decided that Factions still has major room for improvement for FTOP prizes. Going up across the board and reaching more people at the same time was the goal for this season. So we've added PayPal payouts to #4 and #5 winners and increased all of the rewards for everything else. Resulting $750 USD a week in PayPal payouts and $1,175 USD a week in gift cards for our store. If you want to look at it in a different way, that's nearly $10,000 USD in prizes for this whole season across all five planned weeks of payouts. With all that said, I present to you the new payouts table,

    With 5 weeks of payouts, there will be 5 different dates for payouts. The payout dates are as follows for the curious readers in our audience,
    • September 21st, 2019 @ 3PM ET
    • September 28th, 2019 @ 3PM ET
    • October 5th, 2019 @ 3PM ET
    • October 12th, 2019 @ 3PM ET
    • October 18th, 2019 @ 4PM ET

    For those curious about grace period, that’ll end on September 18th @ 4PM, at which point all protections against TNT and creepers will be instantly removed. Commencing the raiding session.

    I mean all you would need is 1 tnt and your cannon would work fine. I think allowing a much wider range of cannons to work for 1 tnt is worth it .

    The E/W patch breaks a ton of extremely cool cannons, such as hammerless stackers, Lefties, revhybrids, midairs, etc. etc. etc. Therefore, real cannoners are at a point where we can only use basic cannons because of a patch thats only a thing for players who can not cannon...
